Recently, I was lucky enough to dine on a unique and amazing culinary experience in Queens, NY. Furthermore, the meal was truly one of a kind and completely unforgettable, especially the Lebanese tabbouleh salad. I had heard wonderful reviews about the modest, family-run Middle Eastern restaurant and I was eager to finally encounter it myself. Consequently, I couldn’t wait to experience it myself.

My parents and I had the pleasure of seated at a table close to the window, which had cozy vibes. In addition, looking over the menu filled with different options led us to be impressed with all the appetizing dishes we saw. Therefore, we decided to choose a variety of mezze items, such as hummus, falafel, and an appetizing Lebanese tabbouleh salad. Notably, these options embody the idea of small plates meant to be shared among friends and family.

While we were waiting for the food to come, we watched a street performer attracting a large crowd just outside the window. However, the performer displayed a remarkable level of skill, yet the racket they generated was disruptive. Despite this, the restaurant employees were friendly and diligent in taking care of us, and soon we enjoyed delectable food.

The Lebanese Tabbouleh Salad was remarkable for its delicate blend of flavors. The combination of herbs, vegetables, and bulgur wheat supplied an ideal proportion of tanginess and subtlety that all contribute to the exceptionally delectable taste. The Syrian woman who had created the delicious dish refused to give me the recipe at first. However, I could persuade her, after which she graciously provided it to me.

As I left the restaurant, I felt overwhelmed with gratitude for the amazing meal and the generous individual who graciously gave me her recipe. Furthermore, experiencing the wonderful cuisine at this special dining venue was an unforgettable occasion. As a result, I am eagerly looking forward to returning to sample their other mouthwatering dishes.

After dining, my parents and I decided to stay a bit longer and witness the street performer. Surprisingly, his remarkable skill was intensely fascinating, and we were immersed in watching his act.

As we walked away from the restaurant feeling appreciative, I was reminded of the wonderful and grateful experience we had just had dining. In addition, the moments shared between us left me immensely thankful for the opportunity. Specifically, the Lebanese tabbouleh salad was superb, with its freshness and exuberant flavor that made it truly unforgettable. Notably, it was an impressive stand-out, unparalleled among many others.

The salad I ate was so flavorful that I was thankful to the Syrian woman who had made it with such dedication. Moreover, she shared her recipe with me, demonstrating her passion for the culinary arts.

As we made our way back to our hotel, I knew that this was a meal and a day that I would remember for a long time. Undoubtedly, it had been a truly unique and enjoyable experience, and I felt lucky to have been a part of it.

So what’s in the Lebanese tabbouleh salad?


  • 1/3 small onion
  • 2 tomatoes, medium size
  • 1 tbsp of fine bulgur wheat
  • A few sprigs of mint.
  • 1 large bunch of parsley
  • 1 large lemon, juicy.
  • A pinch of seven spice.
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1/2 tsp of sumac
  • Extra virgin olive oil

How to make Lebanese tabbouleh salad?

  1. Wash tomatoes, parsley, and mint.
  2. Chop parsley: hold the bunch in one hand and slice with a sharp knife.
  3. Slice tomato into rings, then chop finely.
  4. Finely chop mint and onion; add to a large bowl with other ingredients.
  5. Sprinkle 7-spice, sumac, and salt.
  6. Soak the bulgur wheat for 5 minutes before serving.
  7. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil.
  8. Squeeze lemon over the salad. Taste; adjust dressing with extra salt/lemon juice if needed.
  9. Mix bulgur wheat and mix thoroughly.
  10. Serve the salad with optional lettuce leaves on the side.
