The following story happened a while ago when both my friend and I were very hungry and fed up with the regular food we used to eat every day. Moreover, not only we had the best keto ground beef kebab we had ever had, but we were also given its recipe! 2 wins in one shot. So, here is the story:
It was a steamy summer day in Brooklyn. My friend and I ventured out with one goal in mind: to find some scrumptious beef kebabs. Word on the street was that a local Turkish restaurant had kebabs that hit the spot. So, we figured why not give it a try?
We arrived at the restaurant and were welcomed by the proprietor, a young Turkish man. He was occupied, busy cooking at the kitchen counter, and warmly greeted us upon our entrance. Additionally, it was a tiny, cozy spot with just a few tables appealingly scattered throughout the space. Furthermore, the delicious aromas coming from the kitchen were tantalizing and enough to make anyone’s mouth water.
We found a spot at one of the tables and examined the menu closely. Consequently, the ground beef kebabs were incredibly enticing, so we each decided to order them. We spoke with the chef to provide further insight into his life and expertise. Notably, he graciously accepted our questions about how to become a professional cook. He grew up with a passion for delicious food which he learned to cook from his mother, who owned her restaurant in Turkey. Moreover, this experience further inspired him to become a professional chef and develop a career within the restaurant industry.
Just as he was wrapping up the kebab orders from the waiter, an unfortunate incident happened; a clumsy customer had accidentally tripped and caused a loud commotion. Consequently, the owner rushed over to help the customer, who thankfully was not seriously injured. However, the incident did cause a bit of a delay in the service.
Despite a slight hitch in the delivery time, our kebabs proved worth waiting for. The ground beef was based on a perfect mix of flavorsome spices and cooked through to attain its signature succulent taste. The vegetables, including bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes, offered freshness and an array of colors which intensified the crunch of this devoured meal. We couldn’t get enough of our kebabs – savoring every single bite. The delicious blend of juicy meat and flavorful vegetables was too hard to resist – so much so that we had to order a second plate of ground beef kebabs to share between us. The tender texture and mouth-watering taste kept us on our toes and wanting more. The owner was a master chef and we felt privileged to be able to sample his creations. His skill and expertise as a cook were evident as we savored each mouthwatering dish.
After savoring the meal and feeling thoroughly satisfied, we inquired to the owner if he could provide us with the recipe for his kebabs. Initially, he was reluctant to disclose the recipe- a family heirloom handed down from his mother- however, after persuasion and friendliness, he agreed to share it with us. He guided us in writing the recipe on a piece of paper including his techniques for making an ideal ground beef kebab. He stressed the critical factor of selecting fresh ingredients in combination with seasoning the meat precisely for peak flavor. We were thrilled to have the recipe and thanked the owner for his generosity.
We experienced true Turkish hospitality after relishing the tastes of the talented young owner’s culinary delights. The marvelous meal left us feeling sated yet grateful for its flavorful complexity. Grateful for this opportunity, we left the restaurant feeling content and delighted. We will be returning to this restaurant in the future.
Here is a recipe for delicious ground beef kebabs that you can easily recreate in your kitchen.
Ingredients:
- 15 wooden skewers (optional)
- 2 lbs ground beef* (or a mix of beef and pork)
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup dried parsley (or 1/2 cup fresh parsley, minced)
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder (or a few cloves of fresh garlic, minced)
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp pepper
How to make the keto ground beef kebab?
- To make these scrumptious ground beef kebabs, it is important to start by pre-soaking wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes or more. Using clean hands, carefully combine all the ingredients in a large bowl until well mixed, and be sure not to overmix. Preheat the oven or grill to 350°F and get your mixture ready for cooking. Form oblong patties from the meat mixture, arranging them either on the previously soaked skewers or simply as an independent patty.
- Grill the kebabs for about 20 minutes, turning them as needed with tongs, ensuring that the cooked kebabs meet an internal temperature of 160°F with a meat thermometer. Alternatively, you can also bake them in the oven for around 20 minutes until they reach the same internal temperature and then broil for a short time to attain an irresistible browned flavor.
- After constructing the kebabs, let them rest a couple of minutes before serving – wrapping them in foil if desired. This gives the juices time to shift evenly throughout the entire piece of meat. Kebabs served alongside classic BBQ sides – for example, a crisp garden salad, a selection of roasted vegetables, and hummus or tzatziki – make the perfect summer meal. Enjoy!
I hope you enjoy this delicious ground beef kebab recipe as much as we did! This can be a perfect dish for family and friends or just for an ordinary dinner. Happy cooking!
Believe it or not, kebabs go really well with eggplant salad.
